- The peep valve is normally left closed until opened to allow catheter advancement for patient suctioning.
- Post suctioning the catheter is fully withdrawn before closing the peep valve.
- With the valve closed there is an absolute barrier between the patient and the catheter cleaning chamber, maintaining peep and not sacrificing end tidal volumes.
